Well, well, well. It’s getting to be that time of year again…. wedding season! And we all know what comes with wedding season: bridesmaid dresses, bridal fairs, and the all important BACHELORETTE PARTIES!

That’s right, bachelorette parties are arguably the most fun and enjoyable part of wedding season. There’s no need to wear a dress you look semi-ok in, or worry about grabbing a date last minute just to make sure you’re not the only single person around. No, bachelorette parties are as much fun for the bride-to-be as they are for her girlfriends. So naturally, everyone wants to make sure they’re done right!

And one way to start a bachelorette party off on the right foot, is to make some goodies for everyone to enjoy. Not just lingerie for the Bride (which is always fun), but I’m talking about good old fashioned party favors. Remember going to parties when you were in elementary school, and the excitement you had when you were handed your very own goodie bag to take home. Yea, we never get too old for that excitement.

Unfortunately, with all the costs of weddings, showers, etc, adding additional costs to a bachelorette party can be tricky. But not if you DIY! That’s right my friends, there are ways you can go all out for your besties without having to break the bank. And I’m here today to show you how you can make your very own DIY party favors for under $15 each!

And they don’t necessarily have to be for a bachelorette party. That’s what mine were for, but feel free to customize yours for whatever party you’re throwing. I assure you your guests will go wild for the special touch!

So below, I give you 2 tutorials you can follow to make your own DIY bachelorette party favors. The first one is for the DIY tank tops using heat transfer vinyl, and the second is for the DIY wine tumblers using adhesive vinyl and transfer tape.

Custom DIY Party Favor Wine Tumblers

The Necessary Supplies:

Design what you want to be on the wine glasses in your Silhouette design studio.I wanted everyone’s name, so I used the typing tool in the lower left side bar to type this in PACIFICO font.

If you don’t have this font and like it, close your design studio and go to 1001freefonts.com. Download the font, install it on your computer, then open your design studio back up. It will appear in your fonts when you open up the typing tool again.

Step 2:

I decided I wanted to replace the holes in the letter A with stars, and make sure the letters were connected (cursive) without cutting into each other. So I first magnified my design using the magnification tool on the top toolbar, and then using the eraser tool, on the lower left hand sidebar, to erase all the holes and lines in the letters I wanted to get rid of and/or replace with stars.

Then, I drew a star design using my drawing tool, and placed stars where I had erased all the holes in the letters. Finally, I clicked on all the parts of each name holding down the SHIFT key while clicking, right clicked once they were all selected, and choose “GROUP” to make each name easily moveable within my design.

Finally, I made another design with ALL stars, just so I could add some free floating ones around the names on the tumblers for some added glamour.

Step 3:

  • Once all the name design and the star design were complete, I pressed the cut button in the upper right hand corner of the top toolbar. From there, in the MATERIAL box I choose VINYL and made sure my Silhouette blade was set to “1” – where the program told me it should be. Then, I laid my vinyl on top of my cutting mat, inserted it into my Cameo, and pressed CUT on my program.
    • Make sure your Cameo USB is attached to your computer when you press cut. I forget to attach it all the time and have to re-press it once I attach them.

Step 4:

  • When everything is all cut out of the vinyl, then remove the excess vinyl you’re not using from the backing.
  • Then, place your transfer tape (sticky side DOWN) over the top of your cut vinyl sheets. Once the transfer tape is stuck on top of your cut vinyl, then hand cut each design out one by one (you’ll be able to see your vinyl through the transfer tape).
  • Lastly, once the designs are cut, remove the vinyl backing from the vinyl – making sure that the top of the vinyl (non-sticky side) is sticking to the sticky side of the transfer tape (the sticky side of the vinyl should be facing up towards you.

Step 5:

  • Finally, take your design that’s stuck to your transfer tape and stick it on your wine tumbler exactly where you want it to be placed.
  • Gently rub your fingers on top of the transfer tape to make sure the vinyl is stuck to the tumbler nice and securely – without any bumps).
  • Now, remove the transfer tape from your tumbler.

Custom DIY Party Favor T-Shirts

The Necessary Supplies:

Step 1:

  • Repeat step 1 & 2 from above- designing what you want your t-shirts to say in your Silhouette Design Studio.
    • I wanted mine to say STARLING’S SQUAD, so typed these in Pacifico and Avenir Next Condensed, respectively.
  • Replace all the holes in the letters with STARS (as described in step 2 above) if you so choose.

Step 2:

  • Once your design looks great and is all grouped together, press the REPLICATE button in the upper right hand toolbar of your Silhouette Design Studio. Once open, click on “Mirror right”. Your design will mirror itself so it looks backwards (you need to do this for ANYTHING using heat transfer vinyl).
  • Delete the regular design, and keep your mirrored design. Center it on the mat on your screen, and when ready, press the cut button on the upper right hand toolbar.
    • Before you press “send to silhouette” – click on FLOCKED HEAT TRANSFER VINYL as the media (if using glitter heat transfer vinyl because it’s thicker than regular vinyl) and double check that your cutting blade is set to where the program recommends you to set it.
  • Once the above is all complete, press “send to silhouette” to cut your design out of your vinyl.

Step 3:

  • Once everything is cut, remove the excess vinyl from the clear sheet, leaving only your design.
  • Now, take it and place it back side down (glitter/clear sheet side facing you) on top of your tank top.
  • Plug in your iron, set it to HIGH HEAT, and once warm, press firmly down on top of your design (clear sheet and all) for 10-15 seconds. Make sure you press and hold on every part of your design, leaving no part that hasn’t been touched by your iron.
  • Let cool.

Step 4:

This has got to be the easiest step you’ve ever read. Once cooled off, remove the clear sheet from the stop of your design/shirt.
